Some of the Fitness for Life rules include: Only fruit and fruit juice should be eaten from the time one awakes until noon. Some benefits of the plan are that it encourages people to increase their consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables. Their personalized diet is intended to be a diet for a lifetime, but it does not take into account changes in lifecycle nutrition.

    Healthy eating and proper hydration result Fit to Live book weight loss. If we're not, that means we're sporting a large amount of the 'toxic fat' around our internal organs. The vision behind our programs is to understand the concepts of illness and health in order to unfold the causes and not only symptoms. According to Fit for Life principles, dead foods are those that have highly refined or highly processed origins; while living foods are raw fruits and vegetables. Vegetables and fruits are rich in fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals and can help reduce the risk of heart problems, obesity, diabetes, and even cancer. What I liked about the concept of the book is that it's not a straight-up diet book. His diet plan requires that these foods not be eaten together. The basic points of Fit for Life are as follows: [1] Fruits are best eaten fresh and raw. Examples of carbohydrate lunches include brown rice and sauteed vegetables, or a whole wheat pita with lettuce, bean sprouts and shredded carrots.

He argues that enzymes that digest proteins interfere with enzymes that digest carbohydrates, and therefore, these two foods should not be eaten together.

However, in addition to abstaining from dairy, Diamond promotes certain supplements that may alleviate these problems. Diamond asserts that humans cannot properly digest dairy, and that if consumed, they rot in the digestive tract leading to a host of problems from allergies to irritable bowel syndrome and Crohn's disease.

Where possible they should be eaten alone. Seed oils and nut butter are preferred. Fit For Life Alternatives The diet plan is similar to many plant-based, low calorie, high-protein diets and discourages the consumption of processed food.

Benefits The benefits claimed by Fit for Life are not supported by any scholarly research and are, in fact, refuted by some research see below.

The program is heavily infused with an alternative medicine approach to health and diet, and many of the explanations it gives for the way the body works are scientifically questionable and not accepted by practitioners of conventional medicine.

I really like the recipes at the back of the book and there are several I'd like to try. Starches can also be eaten as a main course with vegetables.This is the third book I've read by Dr.
